Wow, whatever made me think having a blog was a good idea?

What was I thinking when I started this blog? I must've been crazy, I've never been able to keep a diary or a journal. What possessed me to think I'd be able to keep a blog? Well it's been a good six months or so since my last post, and honestly, except for one thing, there isn't much of anything worth noting that has happend in the last six months.
The only thing truly worthy of noting is Isaac is home! I haven't been able to get home to see him yet, as he's located in Minnesota and I'm out here in New York but I'm hoping to go home for a few days sometime this spring.

Well, umm that's about it, I can't think of anything else to say at the moment so I'll leave you with a few new pics of the kiddos enjoying the "blizzard" that hit today. *I must be biased or something cuz quite frankly if you can still see your neighbor's house across the street than it doesn't really count as a blizzard. Plus it was barely below the freezing point, the first few layers of snow melted as soon as it hit the ground.

Ok so here's the deal. So far these are all the cards I have made, umm 22 in total? While I'm home the next couple of weekends I'll have copies of each one printed up for you to see, if you're interested in placing an order I'll definately be intrested in taking any orders. I don't know for sure the pricing on them yet but I'll have that all figured out by the time I'm home. Enjoy!

p.s. I should also add that any of the cards can also be ordered as prints of all sizes, mugs, magnets, etc.

hmmm

ok so maybe I've figured out what to do with my pictures, seeing as so many of you keep telling me that I need to do something with them. The idea came from talking to Mom the other day and her telling me how forgotten Isaac has been feeling and that basicly he needs more mail from people so I was thinking what can I do? and I thought postcards. I started looking at one of my favorite sites (christianbook.com) for discount postcards or notecards or any small little thing that I could send to him and as I was looking through their postcards slowly I began thinking I could do that. So I did and here are a few of what I've made so far, let me know what you think. Are they good? not so good? need a little work? alright as they are? would you buy them or do you know anyone who would maybe buy them? is it something worth persuing and investing in? Please, please let me know what you think show this post to your friends or family or anyone you think might be interested. I've only just gotten started so these are just the beginning few. Thanks!

just click on the links to bring up the pictures

Chickens!!

Yes people, we have chickens. Kevin (a farmer at heart) found out back in March that an ordinance was passed allowing people to keep chickens in their backyard so naturally he jumped on that bandwagon and over Memorial Day weekend we added four new, feathered companions to the family. So meet the newest members of the Hagen/Pike family. They don't officially have names yet but I've dubbed them Estelle, Mabel, Beatrice and Rhoda but if you ask Rhys what their names are he'll tell you their names are Eegie, Ooggoo, Oplopo and Eegie, yes two Eegie's. I'm pretty sure those names are not going to stick.
from L to R,
in the back is Beatrice,
the black and white speckeled one is Estelle,
the red is Rhoda and the buff colored one is Mabel

Estelle

Rhoda and Mabel

Mabel and Beatrice (so far Mabel is everyone's favorite
and nobody really likes Beatrice 'cuz she just "looks dirty")

Rhys and some of the neighbor girls checking out the chickens

Milo, he likes to run up to the coop and scare the chickens

The Beach

Yesterday was absolutely beautiful and Rhys was out of school on Spring Break, so we packed a picnic and went to the beach we were there for most of the morning and the afternoon until naptime. The kids absolutely love it there, Sylvie sat in the sand and played for nearly and hour before she got bored and there's a huge playset for Rhys to cruise around on. After lunch we went down to the water, both the kids had their rainboots but they still managed to get wet. Rhys' pants were soaked to the knees and Sylvie plunked herself down right in the middle of a little tidal pool and her whole backside was soaked and her boots were filled with water, she's such a goofy girl. I have a feeling we'll be at the beach a lot during the summer.

Wanderings in NYC pt 2

From the library I walked down 47th St a few blocks to take a peek at Grand Central Station then I walked down 5th Ave to 59th St which is where Central Park begins. It was getting late in the day and since I was alone and walking I opted to save Central Park for another day.

the front of Grand Central Station

collection of flags in front of Grand Central

same grouping of flags just vertical

the Chrysler Building

Rockefeller Center
St. Patrick's Cathedral
there was some restoration going on
on the front so it was hard to get a good picture

I wanted to go to F.A.O Schwartz but I got there
just a little bit too late, so I settled for taking a picture
of an extra larged sized teddy through the window.
How much would you be willing to spend on this adorable little bear??

can you read the tag? it's $99.00, yup a hundred bucks
for a silly little bear
the Plaza Hotel
since the toy store was closed and I was tired I sat down for a little while and called Mom to talk to her not realizing at all that I was sitting across the street from the Plaza Hotel. Absentmindedly I snapped a few pictures not knowing what I was photographing. When I got home I was looking through my guidebooks and it hit me, I could have smacked myself for not getting a picture of the Plaza but when looking through my photos, it turns out I did manage to snap a photo of the famous hotel.
