Cold Spring Harbor

This is Cold Spring Harbor the next town over from Huntington, I was driving around the other day and pulled over to take a photo. The sunshine is deceptive in this photo, it was remarkably cold that day, really windy too.

So I have to say, I just finished reading the book Marley and Me by John Grogan, a wonderful book. Books never make me cry, I may get a little misty or slightly emotional but books never make me cry . . . until I read this one, I sobbed and sniffled my way through the last few chapters of the book, I could barely see the words on the pages, my eyes were so teary. If you are a dog lover or if you've ever owned a dog you have got to read this book. It will make you laugh, cringe, cheer and cry. Read it, you'll be glad you did.

I gotta be honest its only my second post and this whole blog thing is driving me slightly nuts I have no idea why the pictures up above are so messed up, I couldn't figure out how to fix it and I wasn't going to spend any more time on it. Anyway I thought I'd share a few photos from when the family came out to NY for a visit just before Christmas. Unfortunately they seemed to bring all the nasty North Dakota weather with them that weekend and it snowed and rained and was freezing and slushy and downright nasty the whole weekend they were here, oh well, it was still fun

Winter in the Catskills

the day after I got back to NY after being home for Christmas, the family (fam. I work for) and I packed up and headed upstate to the Catskills for a "vacation". Vacation for them, work for me (haha). We spend 6 days in a lodgey house type of place. I mostly watched the kids, I didn't get a chance to get out much but that's alright because it wasn't vacation time for me. On the last day we were there I was able to get out and wander around for a little bit to get some good pictures, so that was enough for me. So here are some of those pictures, enjoy!

I have no idea who the Millman's are, I just liked this photo.

this is the house we stayed in

Rhys had a fascination with icicles

Sylvie had a fascination with her toes
